The Mud Creek Christian School computer lab is open and available for hands-on computer learning for all students age 3 and up. The lab is staffed by Judy Harden, a former teacher assistant with HCPS and teacher assistant here at MCCS in the fours and K. Software programs and lessons are chosen to fit each age group based on early childhood educational concepts. The lessons and educational software also reinforce concepts the students are taught in their classrooms.

The following subjects and skills are reinforced, depending on age group:

  • Computer terms and hardware basics
  • Keyboard recognition/usage
  • Software tools and menus
  • Color
  • Shape
  • Alphabet
  • Number recognition/review
  • Art and music
  • Holidays and seasons
  • Reading and language arts
  • Bible
  • Math
  • Science
  • History
  • Social studies, health, and social skills
  • Foreign language

Students visit the lab every week with their classmates. The lab's 15 computers are each loaded with identical educational software programs, allowing the children to work as a group while also receiving individual instruction. With each computer lab session, the students have a "circle time" to talk and hear about the concepts and specific skills to be used for that day's lesson. They are shown examples of how to manipulate the mouse and program's tools to get the desired results. Individual creativity and learning from each other are also encouraged.

The Mud Creek Christian School computer lab is a place where students can have fun as they learn and have hands-on experience on the computer. From those with no computer experience to those ready to learn more skills, the children can grow and learn at their own pace in an environment which encourages them to explore.
